Useful Digital Declutter checklist for 2025

As we move into 2025, now’s the perfect time to take a step back and examine our digital lives with a digital declutter. With technology becoming an increasingly integral part of our daily routines, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and disconnected. That’s why this digital declutter checklist is here to guide you on a journey towards a more intentional and balanced digital lifestyle.

Leave the chat

Exit old WhatsApp chats, or archive chats you want to keep but are no longer used. Put chats on mute that you want to keep, but don’t want to receive notifications for, this means that you can dip in and out whenever you want, but you won’t be constantly bombarded by pings and messages!

Delete the message

Delete old Facebook Messenger threads, especially those in your Facebook Marketplace inbox, for items you sold long ago! Do the same for your DMs on Instagram. Having a streamlined inbox will help you keep track of who you owe a reply to or who you’re awaiting a response from.

Unsubscribe

Open up your inbox/es and unsubscribe from mailing lists that no longer apply to you or interest you. If you are a giveaway fan, quite often you have to sign up to a company’s mailing list to enter, if the giveaway is over and the content isn’t for you, unsubscribe! Perhaps you still receive marketing emails from clothing companies your kids are too big for now… hit the unsubscribe link now for instant decluttering!

Streamline your texts

Unsubscribe from, then delete any marketing texts that aren’t useful to you anymore. If friends have sent you their phone/address details via text, add them to your contacts and delete the messages. If you owe a reply, send it now, that’s another job ticked off your to do list!

Delete unused apps

Apps you haven’t used in years can sit on your phone, taking up valuable storage space. Either turn on your ‘automatically delete apps not being used‘ option, or manually go through and remove apps you don’t need.

Password check

For the apps you want to keep, make sure you still know all your passwords. If you don’t, request a password reset and save this to your keychain for future use.

In conclusion, embarking on a digital declutter in 2025 will help you to take control of your digital life and create a healthier relationship with technology. By following the digital declutter checklist provided, you can have a fresh digital slate, free from unnecessary apps, cluttered emails, and online habits that no longer serve you.

Remember to regularly reassess your digital habits and make adjustments as needed. Embrace the freedom and clarity that comes with decluttering your digital life, and enjoy the benefits of a more mindful and intentional approach to technology in the years to come. Cheers to a digitally minimalist 2025!
